Northern Arizona - October 2008

Odds & Ends

Meteor Crater

Meteor Crater is about half-way between the Petrified Forest and Flagstaff along I-40. It was a beautiful clear day, and the first really windy one of the trip (gusting to 30+). These were taken standing on the northern rim of the crater, with the wind out of the south-west and pretty much straight into my face! So I did not hang around and shoot a lot of pictures, just had lunch and headed on to Flagstaff.

Both pictures below are segments of a larger panorama. Click on any of them to see the full pan.

Flagstaff At Night

Below are a couple of shots taken from Mars Hill, home to Lowell Observatory. They are part of a larger panorama. Click on either of them to see the full pan.

Flagstaff is a "Dark Skies City", and has many restrictions on outdoor lighting.
